Our Approach

Promising science needs a path to patients.

Too often, discoveries stall before they can become treatments. The studies needed to move them forward fall into a funding gap: too early for drug companies, beyond what research grants can support. This is the “Valley of Death.”

That is where Connovia will focus. We will build the evidence that gives drug companies the confidence to invest in treatments for our community. We will seek partners with the expertise to carry promising programs through clinical development, manufacturing, and ultimately to patients.

Patient goals guide us.

“I want better treatment for my aortic aneurysm so I might not need surgery one day.”

“I want to keep up with my friends without pain or getting worn out.”

“I want to protect my sight so I can keep doing the things I love.”

We will work with patients, families, clinicians, and scientists to turn goals like these into specific research questions. What needs to change in the body? Which treatment might make that possible? What evidence would tell us we are on the right path?

Find the strongest opportunities.

We will look across existing medicines, promising discoveries in research labs, and new therapeutic approaches. The patient problem will guide the search. Scientific strength and a realistic path to development will guide our choices.

Fund the work that tests the idea.

We will assemble the expertise and fund the studies needed to establish proof of concept: early evidence that a potential treatment could work. Results will determine whether we advance a program, change direction, or stop. Learning that an idea does not work helps us put resources behind stronger opportunities.

Keep the patient’s goal front and center.

A successful experiment is a step forward. The goal is a difference someone can feel in their life. As programs move ahead, we will keep asking whether they address the problems patients asked us to solve.
