We are grateful for the physicians, researchers, patients, and families who changed what it meant to live with a connective tissue disease. Surgical advances have made lives possible that once would have been cut short. Children have grown up. Families have had more time together. That progress is profound.
But a longer life doesn’t always mean a better life. Pain, fatigue, changes in vision, and the threat of serious complications can shape even the smallest moments of the day. People still lose their lives to these diseases.
